It’s the Schuh-bilee

We couldn’t just ignore the fact that this weekend marks the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, (we literally couldn’t ignore it, Britain has gone bunting daft) so we decided we’d showcase some of our most Jubilee-tastic shoes.

Warning: This post may contain Union Jacks

This classic desert boot from Clarks is an understated way to wear red, white and blue. Inspired by patriotic punk and the Sex Pistols this limited edition rock’n’roll boot is available in ladies and men’s sizes.

The cutsey floral Union Jack design on this Irregular Choice heel is a subtle and girly choice for the Jubilee. Wear them with flowery dresses for the holiday weekend!

The Dr Martens 8 Tie gets patriotic with Union Jack toe detail. This truly is the best of British.

We love the flag print lining on this lovely little boat shoe from Red or Dead! We’ll be wearing ours as we sip a refreshing Pimm’s to toast the Queen!

TREND – Espadrilles

1.Get yourself a pair of TOMS. They look ace plus you get extra karmic points.

2. Go floral in girlish prints. These boots look great with short shorts and tanned legs.

3. Invest in a pair of basic slip-ons: a summer staple for just £10!

4. Wear espadrille wedges with dungarees and Breton stripes for summer cool.

5. Choose a desert boot style to give your everyday wardrobe a seasonal update.

UGG Australia Competition

We love shoes (obvz), and we love prizes (who doesn’t?) so we’ve teamed up with UGG Australia to give away a once in a lifetime trip to California plus a pair of shoes from UGG Australia.

We’ve buried 14 pairs of UGG Australia Shoes in the sand and each day you can guess where they might be. The winner will be chosen at random from all the correct answers plus everyone who guesses will get entered into our prize draw to win an AMAZING trip to California!

To enter simply play the Summer of UGG App on our Facebook page: today the iconic UGG Australia Classic Short is up for grabs! If you don’t win today, don’t despair, you can try every day that the competition is running! Good luck.

Brand Focus – Nike Free

Running shoe styles are huge right now: both on and off the treadmill. The Nike Free range combines sleek style with the latest technology for a totally supported, barefoot-feel. To be honest though, we’re more likely to wear these ace styles to the pub than the gym.

Men

The Nike Free 5.0 for men is perfect for those new to barefoot running: with flexible grooves in the outsole and a supportive Dynamic Fit system that hugs your foot. We’d rather wear them for the Tesco run.

The Kukini Free is a form fitting running shoe with a breathable slip-on fabric upper and flexible sole.  Kukini means ‘swift and valued runner’ in Hawaiian so you know that these bad boys are gonna make you run pretty damn fast.

Not technically part of the Free Series but inspired by the same technology, we couldn’t overlook the Nike Roshe Run. This shoe has been getting some serious attention and we love its minimalist styling. Team it with patterned socks and rolled up jeans.

Ladies

The Nike Free Waffle takes the recognised runner silhouette and adds the innovative Nike Free technology. We love this bright colourway and have more styles from the series coming soon.

TREND – Summer Sandals

Despite apocalyptic weather here at Schuh HQ we’re getting all hyped up over summer sandals (we’re hoping that this wishful thinking will result in a swelteringly sunny weekend).

Our feet have been scrubbed and rubbed, tanned and moisturised, and last summers nail polish has been removed from every individual toe: all that’s left to do is to pick the perfect pair of sandals.

This heeled sandal from Clarks Originals is a brilliant buy: comfortable but cool, we love it teamed with cutesy socks and tanned legs.

The simple, clean, leather straps on the Red or Dead Whitby makes it an ideal choice for your summer wardrobe and this white and silver version looks great with sun-kissed feet.

Classic styles never go out of fashion and this nude basic sandal is a holiday staple. Think more cultural city break than OAP package tour, and definitely don’t team this pair with socks.

Celebrating both the shoe and the sandal, the Red or Dead Bunting will take you effortlessly from office to bar. We’re wearing ours with EVERYTHING (weather permitting) and are pretty tempted to get them in white too…

TREND – Desert Boots

The desert boot is a classic silhouette: cool, understated and timeless. An everyday staple, it’s the perfect choice for braving blustery spring days.

MEN

The Clarks Originals desert boot is an icon: casual and effortless, a pair of these are a quality investment.

This season desert boots get an update with vulcanised outsoles. We love this rich burgundy Byron from Fred Perry: great with denim for weekend cool.

WOMEN

The traditional desert boot style is given a more feminine edge with a slimmer silhouette and slender sole. We’re wearing ours with jeans and jersey basics for off-duty cool.

This fabulous floral number is perfect for summer: the classic desert boot style gets reworked with on trend espadrille sole and a brightly coloured flower print upper. A holiday must-have!

Brand Focus – Dr. Martens for Men

Dr. Martens has long been recognised as a quality British brand. From skin heads to punks to style savvy bloggers: there has always been a place for DM’s in youth culture.

While classic styles like the 8 tie and 1461 shoe remain a firm favourite, Dr. Martens have continued to push boundaries and regularly update their collections.

We have a sneak peek of the Dr. Martens Correspondent: designed exclusively for Schuh, this dapper chap is Boardwalk Empire meets Dalston dandy. The attention to detail is key: the scotch grain leather upper is bang on trend while the chunky sole undoubtedly belongs to a DM. Due later this month.

If you’re a slave to the 8 tie, why not celebrate the Queen’s jubilee with our Union Jack edition. The classic silhouette receives the royal treatment with the iconic flag motif on the toe. Available in store and online now.
